Stay safe!

When you watch the news you could be forgiven for thinking that we live in a war zone. The truth is London is a very safe place but I thought I'd provide a few tips to help us all live safely in this wonderful city!

Out and about
• Try to avoid walking alone at night, and try to keep to well-lit main roads. Stay in a group of friends as much as possible.
• Be aware of what’s going on around you. If something is going to happen you can usually see it coming a mile off if you are alert.
• Try to avoid wearing headphones or wear one. You will be more aware of what's going on around you
• Keep tight hold of your bags when in crowded places such as buses, trains, the tube and Oxford Street.
Pickpockets are always around and try to distract you by bumping into you.

At parties
• Never accept a drink from someone you don't know and completely trust, you never know what is in it.
• Don't leave your drink unattended. Keep an eye on your friends' drinks too. Someone might try to put something in it.
• Look after your mates and get mates that will look after you! A good friend looks out for their friends.

Keeping Your Stuff Safe
• Don't leave your bag unattended anywhere in London, as doing so can lead to a security alert. It might even get blown up by the police!
• When using a cash machine, check that no-one is looking over your shoulder and cover your pin. Loads of thieves like to come up to you when you are getting money out and distract you before taking the money!

What to do if someone trys to rob you
• If someone threatens you for your stuff, give it to them, especially if they have a weapon. Stuff can be replaced, you can't.
• Call the police as soon as possible. They can actually help! Most robbers get caught eventually. The police will want to know what the person looked like. Like if they have tattoos and anything distinctive about them.
• Its not the end of the world. Robbers are cowards and opportunists so walk with confidence!
