I’m just gonna get straight to the point here:
Love is an action. Love is a decision.
Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Love is not a feeling; that’s infatuation or fondness. Some films tell us that “luv” is worth living and dieing for. But is it really? Can something caused by a little bit of charm or some aligned interests really be what this life is all about? Or could it be about living for something bigger than ourselves:
Others.
If love is an action then love = caring. Caring enough to do something about it. And keep on doing something about it. It’s in no way a soppy, lovey-duvy, hippy thing. Out of love and caring Martin Luther King Jr. marched. Out of love and caring Mother Teresa spent her life giving dignity and hope to the poor and downtrodden of Calcutta. Out of love and caring Nelson Mandela forgave those who locked him in a prison for 27 years for being an anti-apartheid activist.
Does London need people who smile at the people they meet, hoping to brighten up someone’s day? Probably.
Does London need people who will forget about themselves for long enough to actually do something that affects the world around them? Desperately.
Some people didn’t choose their situation. Some people don’t know there is hope.
But there is hope. Because love is an action, a decision. And we decide to care. Join with us (you won’t regret it).
Long live the revolution.
