What's your Label?

I was recently at an event where the guy who was speaking quoted a few things that had been said about youth in the past. Here is what he said . . .

‘The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love gossip ... Children are now tyrants ... They contradict their parents ... and tyrannize their teachers’

‘I see no hope for the future of our people if they are dependent on the youth of today, for certainly all youth are reckless beyond words ... they are exceedingly disrespectful and impatient’ (Socrates)

Are You Really There?

So, you’re a month into the new school year, new classes, possibly new mates, new teachers, and new you ...right? We all have the things we like and don't like, things we are into, mates we like to hang out with and others we try and stay away from, for whatever reasons.
I was sitting on the tube on the way home not too long ago, minding my own business when this thought about being a wholehearted person popped into my mind and with it this Jim Elliot quote ‘Wherever you are be all there’

Give me anything strong’- These are the words you may expect to hear from a city businessman after a heavy day’s negotiations, or perhaps the discussion between a stockbroker and a barman just after a fall in the market. However, these are not the words you expect to hear from a 17 year old chatting to a friend on a Thursday night. Teenagers have always been a mystery to society, but only now are they really starting to draw concern.

Letting go . . . (Mandy Gill)

Saying goodbye is never easy, especially when there is the possibility that you will never see that person again but people move, things change and as they say, life goes on. It's harder to say goodbye to some people more than others, all depending on how much they've impacted your life...

I had to say bye to someone this week. It wasn't easy and I've shed many tears (on the London Underground of all places!!) The worst thing is I didn't realise how influential this person had been to my life until it came to the moment when I had to say good-bye.
